Thank you!

It’s a wrap! This year’s Bay Area Playwrights Festival is now over, but #bapf2018 will live on in these six new, provocative, powerful and important stories as they journey to completion. Thank you for joining us and for supporting theater in the making!

This year’s stellar playwright cohort brought their plays to life in partnership with 60 of the Bay Area’s leading directors, dramaturgs, and actors — and presented remarkably vibrant readings of their new works for 100’s of friends, new and old, and over 50 theater professionals from across the country, who filled our 100-seat venue to the brim with unquenchable energy and enthusiasm.

Of course the festival wouldn’t have been complete without some brainy fun – Daniel Banks and Claudia Alick lead a panel on decolonizing the creative process, BAMUTHI lead a discussion on the creative process in multi-disciplinary work, and VR entrepreneur Nathan Brown with Dr. Elizabeth McMahon led a conversation on the uses and abuses of Virtual Reality – on and off the stage – among many other thoughtful and provocative discussions related to the content of the plays.

For Kathy – who arrived for her new gig as PF’s Managing Director during the festival  –  there couldn’t have been a better way to start her tenure at Playwrights Foundation. The past two weeks have been an immersive whirlwind, and a celebration of creativity, community, and most importantly, the satisfaction of supporting these six emerging playwrights as they spit their fire.

While we don’t yet know where or when, we are certain they will continue on – and we can’t wait to share our playwrights’ future successes with you as these plays go on to stages across the country and beyond!

It is with tremendous gratitude for our hardworking staff, interns, volunteers, board members; and YOU – our community, our funders, producers and donors that we heartily thank you!
