NOW SEEKING a 2010 Bay Area Playwrights Festival Lead Artistic Producing Intern

The Lead Artistic Producing Intern supports the Artistic Director and Festival Producer in all tasks and activities related to producing the Bay Area Playwrights Festival, including company management, marketing, production management, and administration. Interns hold primary responsibility for planning and staffing special events, providing hospitality to artists and patrons during the festival, and serving as production assistants for individual shows (including attending the Artists Retreat as a member of the collaborative team and show rehearsals.) The Lead Artistic Producing internship is 8 weeks long: 6/7/10 – 8/2/2010. Interns are expected to work approximately 20 hrs/week during the pre-festival planning phase (6/7-7/22), attend the Artists Retreat (three full days: Tuesday 7/13 – Thursday 7/15) and full-time during the actual festival (7/19 -8/1). This internship can be compatible with a part-time job, but interns MUST make the Playwrights Foundation their scheduling priority. The Lead Artistic Producing Intern will receive a $400 stipend, letters of recommendation on request, and credit for their work in all production programs. Artistic Producing Intern

Artistic Producing Interns (September - June) support the Artistic Director and Associate Artistic Director in all tasks and activities related to year round programming. A primary task of the Artistic Producing Intern will be to serve as stage manager or rehearsal assistant for the ROUGH reading series, INKubator workshops and Resident Playwrights readings. Activities include company management, marketing, production management, and administration. Responsibilities will vary throughout the year with a focus in the spring on preparation for the Bay Area Playwrights Festival.

Artistic Producing internships run September through June, with approximately 15 - 20 hours of work per week. The schedule can be flexible, but hours must be agreed upon in advance, and some nights and weekends will be necessary to accommodate rehearsal schedules.

Literary Internship

The Literary Intern will support Associate Artistic Director in all appropriate and necessary functions related to the submission and selection process for the 2010 Bay Area Playwrights Festival. The Literary Assistant will be primarily responsible for processing of Festival submissions, and will coordinate support the AAD in facilitating the selection process.

The position runs Oct to Mid-April and requires a commitment and average commitment of 15 hours week. A modest stipend is attached.
